Lundbeck Grant for Alzheimer’s and Frontotemporal Dementia Study

Heidi Kaastrup Müller, Associate Professor at TNU, receives a Lundbeck Foundation Experiment 2023 grant.

Heidi Kaastrup Müller receives 2 million DKK for the research project:

“Exploring a potential biomarker and drug target for Alzheimer’s disease and frontotemporal dementia”

Alzheimer's disease (AD) and frontotemporal dementia (FTD) are the two most frequent types of dementia.

In this project, Heidi and her team will study a neuron-specific mechanism that is dysregulated in AD/FTD and controls proteolytic cleavage of key membrane proteins involved in AD and FTD.

They aim to show that this mechanism can be targeted to rescue pathological features associated with AD/FTD and can be exploited for biomarker purposes.

The Lundbeck Foundation Experiment 2023 grants are specifically designed to support innovative and experimental projects that have the potential to significantly advance our understanding of important research fields.
