From Research Project to PhD: Celine Knudsen Continues at TNU

We are pleased to announce that Celine Knudsen has joined TNU as a PhD student as of 1 August 2026.

Celine first joined TNU in February 2023, where she carried out her molecular medicine research project. Her work at TNU subsequently continued through her Master’s thesis, after which she remained at the department as a Research Assistant.

She will now continue her research at TNU through her PhD project, building on her previous work within psychiatric research. The PhD project is funded by private funds.

Title: Identification of dysregulated non-coding RNAs in brains from psychiatric patients – Novel treatment targets
Supervisor: Associate Professor Betina Elfving

About the project
In her project, Celine Knudsen will investigate changes in non-coding RNAs in the brains of patients with psychiatric disorders such as depression, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia. The aim is to improve our understanding of psychiatric disorders and identify potential biomarkers and novel targets for more precise and personalised treatment.
