iNANO

About iNANO

iNANO commands a variety of facilities for the synthesis of nanostructured/nanopatterned 0D (i.e. nanoparticle), 1D, 2D and 3D materials. These include: equipment for electrospinning, photo- and electron beam-lithography, nanoparticle synthesis (supercritical synthesis), solid-phase peptide synthesis, DNA modification, bioreactors for large-scale protein expression, isotope labelling, and procedures for synthesis of functionalized nanoparticles for targeted drug delivery and bioimaging, aptamers, etc.

To foster interdisciplinary research at the international forefront, iNANO is constantly expanding its activities in terms of personnel, facilities, and laboratory space. Therefore, iNANO is very pleased that AU has made nano science a focus of attention. The Board of AU has approved the construction of a new 10,000 m2 new building with laboratories and offices. Hence, this implies a quantum leap with respect to iNANO's facilities. Thus, the synergies for interdisciplinary nanoscience education, research, and innovation activities will be strongly facilitated and improved.

The new iNANO building house a new 120 m2 class-100 cleanroom, and a number of highly specialized laboratories with unique world-class equipment. The cleanroom's research facility enables the fabrication of nano-structured materials and devices with state-of-the-art lithography resolution. The building also offer modern amenities to organic chemistry, protein chemistry, inorganic materials chemistry, and cultivation and analysis of cells and bacteria.
